I've got a couple of general ideas if you're interested in fleshing any of them out.
- Midna has the Triforce of Wisdom. Either Zelda lost it, died, or was never hers to begin with
- Ganondorf and Midna must work together. Zant's turned on them or some other mutual enemy
- Ganondorf is actually imprisoned in the twilight realm.
- Or alternatively, he isn't dormant in Zant, and instead actively and openly plots to use the Twili to invade Hyrule
Or of course if you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
Also I'm Kia btw. If we did rp in the past, you probably knew me as sparky lol. I'm fine if you call me either!

And you know me. We played back in MS Elegante. (I was the Zelda / Sheik player. We've done other stuff, too.) We've known each other for years. I had no idea you were still around. To be fair, I come in and out of DW space like a few times a year just to see what I can get into.
All of these ideas are really good. I'm very tickled by the concept of the Triforce of Wisdom becoming Midna's and I like the idea of Zelda dying in that timeline and her passing it onto Midna (especially doable if going by their manga relationship - which I know is not considered canon, but... it's an AU, we could do anything).
We might be able to combine a couple of these ideas, because I'm greedy and I have grabby hands. We could still go with Ganondorf actively using the Twili to invade Hyrule. So he'd still be able to usurp Midna's throne and could be the acting King of Twilight. Midna inherits the Triforce of Wisdom to stand in opposition of him and retake her kingdom. Courtly politics, maybe...? I'm a big fan of court intrigue and I think Ganondorf and Midna could have some very deceptive and manipulative conversation with one another.
Let me know what you think and where your heart's taking you.

I've always loved the idea of Triforce swapping (Like giving Link the Triforce of Power instead of Courage and see how well he handles it. For me, I think it's interesting if it slowly corrupts him. But that's a separate tangent lol), so pulling Midna into the cycle would be a fun idea to explore. My main thought is that Zelda is killed during the initial invasion, and the triforce piece passes to Midna instead of waiting for Zelda to reincarnate. Ganondorf is forced to look for the new host and Midna either keeps it to herself or outright confronts him if he's using the Twili as his invasion force. It could also fix her curse, so she's in Hyrule in her true form.
But I am also down for courtly politics. Political intrigue is one of my many favorite tropes.

I like the idea of Midna keeping it to herself. I can't imagine she'd readily know what to even do with it. The notion of such great power in the hands of a Twili is a good one. Could give her a chance to consider what wielding that power is like in comparison to the interlopers that came before her people.
I also like the idea that it would allow her to thrive outside of the Twilight Realm as her Twili self. There's a lot here to play with. These are great!
Perhaps she attempts to keep it from him whilst she's trying to figure out how to activate it (or whatever she considers activation of it, general Triforce education, perusing Hyrule libraries and archives for any and all information she can track down about it) and it, at some important, dire moment, it reveals itself without her direct influence and it gives her away. Could be a climactic point. Maybe she's pretending to assist him, whilst knowing what he's looking for as she's keeping it to herself, in hopes of finding out whatever weaknesses he might hold.

Seems logical to me that eventually when the Right Time presents itself, she would turn on Ganondorf. Maybe at that point she reveals she's the true wielder of the Triforce of Wisdom.
